In today’s time, do people still give their children toys due to the competitive video game industry?

Are children of a certain age group more satisfied with getting a video game console and a few games instead of piles of toys? I’m sure kids still want toys but would they still be happy if they got their ps3, 360, or wii if you just left out all the toys?

I’m going to own gaming consoles because I play games, anyway, but my children are going to get toys, too. I’m also going to take them to the park. They need to learn how to have fun without being in front of the TV.
