How can I organize my Room?
Okay. I share a room with my little sisters ( 6,& 9), and They do NOT like cleaning! It irritates me all the time and when I have friends come over its embarrassing! How Can I organize our room in a way that’s easy to clean, if needed? Our room has: 2 dressers, Twin bed, T.V., 2 toy boxes, Bunk-bed, couch, 4 storage things under the bnk-bed, a chest in front of twin bed w/ radio on top of that, and a lil kid table. PLEASE HELP! IM DESPERATE!
That is a big problem! You should talk to your parents about getting them to help out…no one LOVES cleaning, we do it to respect our homes and our roommates, and to make life easier. But you are right, you can organize things to make cleaning easier, and I would ask mom for help.
I will bet that about half the toys in there don’t get played with. Help mom sort through them and get rid of everything that is broken, has missing pieces, is meant for younger than 6 years old. If there are any toys that get played with outside, at the pool, or in the tub, move them to the garage or the bathroom. And if they have a lot that they don’t play with, those can go too. If there is still a whole lot, mom can help you split them up, and store half in boxes out of reach so only half are available at a time. Then every couple months pick all the ones out, UP, and put them away and bring out the ones that are in storage.
Toy boxes are useless. What happens is all the little stuff sinks to the bottom, and you have to empty the box to use anything in it. Ask mom to get rid of the toy boxes for smaller containers. Then sort the toys into different containers depending on who they belong to, or what they are. You might have doll clothes in one, my little pony stuff in one, kitchen stuff in one, Lego in one, action figures, animals, games, doll house stuff, books, DVD, etc. This is how you should be using the 4 bins under the bed.
Maybe instead of using the toy boxes for toys, mom can reuse them somewhere else in the house for blankets and stuff, or keep them in the room and use them for all of you girls’ out of season clothing.
Even if your parents don’t get involved in making them help keep the room clean, you can do some things. As the big sister, they probably look up to you. You can make arrangements to hang out with them, do special stuff with them. You probably have something cool and special in common with each of your sisters. Use this as a way to develop your relationship with them. But do be nice, and do not break promises you make to them or they will never do anything for you again.
It also may be time to start talking about your own room. Is there any way to do it? If you aren’t fussy, maybe you can get your own little space to get away from your little sisters.
