Dog Toys Balls

how do you stop a dog stealing other dogs toys?

My dog is wonderful. Great with people, kids and other dogs but when she gets the chance she will steal anything another dog is playing with and run off. It is a nightmare to get it back and some people get quite annoyed over it. I take her own balls and toys to the park but they are never as appealing as someone else’s! I don’t know why she does it but I think it is because she likes to be chased. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can train this out of her?
Thanks!

Teach her “leave it” and “drop it.” Both with her toys and others’. Leave it means don’t pick it up, drop it means spit it out. :)

Leave it is easiest to do first. Have two treats in each hand, close your fingers around them in a fist, and hold both hands to her nose and let her sniff one. She may lick at it, that’s ok but don’t give her a treat. Say “leave it,” then as soon as she pulls her nose away, give her the treat from the other hand and praise her. Slowly build up so she sees the treat but doesn’t take it, increase the amount of time each time, and eventually get her to the point where a treat can be on the floor and she won’t take it until you say it’s ok. Then do it with toys.

Edit: I had “drop it,” but above post is fine.
